Isobutanol is mainly used in the production of isobutyl acetate, a compound used primarily in the production of treacle and similar coatings, and also as a food flavoring agent. It is also used in the production of petroleum additives, antioxidants, paint solvents, plasticizers, synthetic rubber, and synthetic drugs.
