Product Description

Dimethyl industrial sulfone (DMSO) is a hydrophobic organic compound with the formula (CH3)2S.
At room temperature, it is a colorless odorless transparent liquid and a hygroscopic flammable liquid.
With high polarity, high boiling point, good thermal stability, aprotic, and water miscible characteristics, can dissolve in ethanol, propanol, benzene and chloroform and other most organic matter, known as "universal solvent".

Dimethyl sulfoxide is an extremely important aprotic polar solvent that is soluble in both water and organic solvents. It is widely used as a solvent and reaction reagent and has a high selective extraction capacity. Dimethyl sulfoxide itself has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, diuretic, and sedative effects. In the pharmaceutical industry, it can be directly used as a raw material and carrier for certain drugs. It is known as a "panacea" and is often added to drugs as an active component of painkillers.

It is used as a reaction medium for aromatic hydrocarbon extraction, resins and dyes, a solvent for acrylonitrile polymerization and filament spinning, etc.

2. It can be used as an organic solvent, reaction medium and organic synthesis intermediate. It has a wide range of applications. This product has a very high selective extraction capacity and can be used as a polymerization and condensation solvent for acrylic resin and polysulfone resin, a polymerization and spinning solvent for polyacrylonitrile and cellulose acetate, an extraction solvent for the separation of alkanes and aromatics, and a reaction medium for the extraction of aromatics and butadiene, acrylic fiber spinning, plastic solvents, organic synthetic dyes, pharmaceuticals and other industries. In the medical field, dimethyl sulfoxide has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, and has strong penetration into the skin, so it can dissolve certain drugs and allow these drugs to penetrate into the human body to achieve therapeutic purposes. Utilizing the carrier property of dimethyl sulfoxide, it can also be used as an additive for pesticides. Adding a small amount of dimethyl sulfoxide to certain pesticides can help the pesticides penetrate into plants to improve their efficacy. Dimethyl sulfoxide can also be used as a dyeing solvent, decolorizing agent, and dyeing carrier for synthetic fibers, as well as an absorbent for recovering acetylene and sulfur dioxide, a modifier for synthetic fibers, an antifreeze, and a dielectric medium, brake fluid, and an extractant for rare metals, etc.

3. It is used as an analytical reagent and gas chromatography stationary liquid, and also as a solvent for ultraviolet spectral analysis.

4. Transdermal penetration enhancers. Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is one of the earliest transdermal penetration enhancers used. Its penetration-promoting property may be related to its solvent nature. DMSO can denature proteins in keratinocytes of the skin; it can disrupt the ordered arrangement of intercellular lipids in the stratum corneum; it can remove lipids and lipoproteins from the stratum corneum, enhancing the penetration of drugs. However, when high concentrations of DMSO are used, it can cause erythema, blisters, and irreversible damage to the skin. Its use has been banned in the United States. The commonly used concentration is 30% - 50%.

5. Antifreeze. The freezing point of pure dimethyl sulfoxide is 18.45ºC. A 40% water solution of dimethyl sulfoxide does not freeze at -60ºC. Moreover, when dimethyl sulfoxide is mixed with water or snow, it releases heat. Therefore, it provides convenience as a component of automotive antifreeze, brake fluid, and hydraulic fluid. Ethylene glycol antifreeze is not suitable for use at temperatures below -40ºC, and it has a lower boiling point than dimethyl sulfoxide, is toxic, and is prone to vapor lock. Dimethyl sulfoxide antifreeze is used in automobiles and military vehicles in the northern cold regions and can be replenished with snow at any time instead of water. Dimethyl sulfoxide is also used as a deicing agent, in coatings, as an antifreeze for various latexes, as an antifreeze for gasoline and aviation kerosene, and as an antifreeze for the low-temperature preservation of bone marrow, blood, and organs.Dimethyl Sulfoxide DMSO Good Price CAS 67-68-5Dimethyl Sulfoxide DMSO Good Price CAS 67-68-5Dimethyl Sulfoxide DMSO Good Price CAS 67-68-5Dimethyl Sulfoxide DMSO Good Price CAS 67-68-5Dimethyl Sulfoxide DMSO Good Price CAS 67-68-5Dimethyl Sulfoxide DMSO Good Price CAS 67-68-5Dimethyl Sulfoxide DMSO Good Price CAS 67-68-5Dimethyl Sulfoxide DMSO Good Price CAS 67-68-5Dimethyl Sulfoxide DMSO Good Price CAS 67-68-5
