Product Description

Colorless crystal with a camphor-like odor. Freezing point 31.5ºC, boiling point 170ºC (decomposition), 88ºC (4.67kPa), relative density 0.97 (20/20ºC), refractive index 1.5061, flash point 32.22ºC, spontaneous combustion point 680ºC. Soluble in alcohol, ether and carbon tetrachloride, insoluble in water. This product has two isomers, α and β, α isomer freezing point 33ºC, β isomer freezing point 19.5ºC. Dicyclopentadiene mainly contains alpha isomers, boiling point 170ºC. Because it contains double bonds, it is easy to carry out addition reaction and auto-polymerization reaction. Used in the production of ethylene propylene rubber third monomer ethylene norbornene, polycyclopentadiene pesticide, polyester, resin, plastic flame retardant, medicine, fragrance, etc. The light benzene distillate of coal tar is distilled, and the benzene head distillate is cut at < 70ºC, which contains about 30 cyclopentadiene, and then heated, polymerized, and distilled to produce the finished dicyclopentadiene. The C5 fraction in hydrocarbon cracking industry is used as raw material, which is heated dimerized and then separated by vacuum distillation. Secondly, cyclopentadiene can also be prepared by dimerization.
