Trichloroethylene (TCE), also known as acetylene trichloride, is a colorless, slightly sweet volatile liquid with strong dissolving ability. It is insoluble in water and dissolves in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether. Usually non-combustible under conditions, because of its moderate boiling point, high steam pressure, strong stability, suitable for gas washing operation, in the industry for metal cleaning (degreasing thoroughly) and fiber degreasing.
