Basic overview
Isoctyl alcohol is commonly known as octyl alcohol, product name: 2-ethylhexyl alcohol, 2-ethyl (-1-) hexyl alcohol, English abbreviation for 2-EH.
Subtype: C8H18O.
It is a colorless flammable liquid with special odor, a relative density of 0.831, a boiling point of 183.5 ° C, insoluble in water, and can be missolvable with most organic solvents.
Quality standard GB6818-86 Boiling point 184ºC Melting point 70ºC Flash point 81.1ºC.
Basic use
Octyl alcohol is mainly used in the production of phthalates and aliphatic dibasic acid ester plasticizers such as dioctyl phthalate, dioctyl azelate and dioctyl sebacate, respectively used as plastic main plasticizer and cold-resistant auxiliary plasticizer, defoamer, dispersant, concentration agent and petroleum filler, also used in printing and dyeing, paint, film and other aspects.
