The main use of adipic acid in nylon products is to produce nylon 66 salt by neutralizing reaction with hexanediamine, and nylon 66 salt further polycondensation reaction can produce nylon 66 fiber and nylon 66 resin. Non-nylon applications are mainly through the condensation reaction with polyols to produce polyester polyols, and then produce a variety of polyurethane products, such as polyurethane sole resin, polyurethane synthetic leather resin, polyurethane adhesive, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), polyurethane rubber and polyurethane foam plastics. In addition, adipic acid can also be used in medicine, pesticides, dyes, fragrances, adhesives, plasticizers, moistening agents, organic synthesis, food acidifiers, unsaturated polyester resins and other fields. The domestic nylon plastic industry has developed slowly in recent years, and the largest consumption of adiponic acid comes from the polyurethane industry, accounting for about 56% of the total consumption, nylon 66 salt accounts for about 28%, and other areas account for 16%.
