2-ethylhexanol, commonly known as octanol in the plasticizer neighborhood, is an important
chemical raw material. In addition to being used for the production of plasticizers, octanol abroad is
also used for the production of octyl acrylate or as a surfactant. It can mainly be used for the production
of dioctyl phthalate (DOP), dioctyl oxalate (DOA), trioctyl trimellitate (TOTM), other plasticizers,
octyl acrylate, surfactants, bone lubricant additives, mining, solvents and formulations,
rust inhibitor esters, and other chemicals. Octanol itself is a useful solvent, defoamer, dispersant,
and lubricant. Its series of products mainly include plasticizers such as dioctyl phthalate and octyl acrylate.
Dioctyl phthalate produced from octanol is the main plasticizer for PVC, accounting for approximately 95%
of its total consumption.
