Product Description

Chemical properties Titanium tetrachloride, chemical formula TiCl4. Molecular weight 189.71. Colorless or light yellow liquid. It can irritate the eyes and respiratory tract. The melting point is -25ºC, the boiling point is 136.4ºC, the relative density is 1.726, the refractive index is 1.61, the electrical conductivity is 2.7324. Soluble in cold water, dilute hydrochloric acid and ethanol. Decompose in hot water to form insoluble basic salts and hydroxides. White smoke due to hydrolysis in air. It reacts with many nitrogen-containing and oxygen-containing organic compounds to produce a yellow, red, or brown color. It is obtained by the introduction of chlorine gas into hot metal titanium, or by the reaction of ChemicalbookTiO2 with chlorine gas at high temperatures. In industry, it is obtained by chlorination, distillation and refining of TiO2 and carbon mixture with chlorine gas. It is used as the main raw material for making sponge titanium and chloride titanium white. Used as an important component of ethylene polymerization catalyst. It is used in the manufacture of pigments and titanium organic compounds as well as smokescreen for national defense. It is also a good solvent for dissolving various organic compounds such as synthetic resins, rubber and plastics. Determination of ferrocyanide by microanalysis.
